The solution came with the permission repair, using the Utilities Disk App from OS X.

Just run the app on your disk, restart, and try again.

/tmp is critically used by processes and removing files may cause them to abort or non-responding.

It runs all of your website's databases, WHM/Cpanel control panel databases etc. There could be many reasons behind the failure of the service.
